a bowl i got amanda for her birthday

a platter we got for our wedding as a gift

mom went to portugal and got this while there for amanda. she started the trend illustrated in the pictures above. the next picture is actually a digital camera picture of a printed picture the doctor gave us.

this big purple thing is amanda's gall bladder. the red stuff that's stickin to it, is her liver. this is called adhesion. it's not supposed to be stuck to the liver like that. after removal, it was found to be full of cholesterol crystals and other sludgey crap that doesn't rise to the level of gallstones but is still problematic. you don't need your gall bladder. my theory is that it's mainly useful for eskimos who eat raw whale blubber in vast quantities, and that the modern american diet doesn't demand its presence. this picture reminds me of something you'd see in outer space, not inside the body. i wish we had pictures of the inside of it after dissection. this is really cool

mom sent a wonder flower arrangement from VA for amanda after her surgery

nate and lisa brought over some flowers for amanda

dean and dawn sent amanda a cookie bouquet after her surgery. the kids have been eating it. this is what's left.

various tomatoes and peppers out of our garden. cielle claims we have 52 of them

cielle got stung 2 times last summer in one day. they've gotten amanda before too

we get alot of wasps around her and the red ones are mean

an angel in the garden picking basil flowers off the bush. we have cinnamon basil, lemon basil, purple basil and sweet basil

cielle is helpful in the garden. she helps us pick off the basil flowers, which makes the basil produce more leaves and no seeds so we can make gobs of pesto in the food processor. i tried using the mortar and pestle. forget that. i hoodwinked her into picking all these basil flwers, which is a pain so she could make herself some....
